WINDSOR EXPO: YG-1 Canada Supports Needs of Die & Mold Machining

YG-1 Canada Inc. is making a concerted push in the domestic market and President Sean Evers himself was on hand at the company booth.

The company has tool solutions targeted specifically at die & mold machining and took advantage of Windsor Expo being in the heart of Canada’s moldmaking industry to showcase its capabilities.

Within the mold industries there are several defined spare parts that define the mold structure, Evers explains, and this variety implies the machining process is applied on a wide range of materials, such as pre-hardened steels, hardened steels, cast iron, aluminum for prototypal molds, stainless steels for manifold and hot runner parts, graphite and copper for electro-erosion processes.

“The abundant tools YG-1 offers are able to support the needs of the die & mold customers, whatever the material to be processed and the application to be implemented,” Evers says.

For example, high-hardened steel is used widely in the die & mold industry to manufacture parts such as jet turbine blades. High-hardened steel, however, poses significant machining challenges requiring the toughest of tools. Evers says YG-1 has the solution in the form of its X1-EH, X5070, YG HF4 Mill (-TR Chip Breaker), i-Xmill families for milling, and Dream Drills with the High Hardened steel line for holemaking.

The table-top event, held at the Ciociaro Club, is organized annually by Shop Metalworking Technology magazine. It attracts regional buying influencers servicing the manufacturing job shops from Southwestern Ontario, US border markets including Michigan, Ohio, and New York all the way across small-town Ontario to the Ottawa and Quebec region. The event is held in partnership with SME Canada and association partners, CAMM and Automate Canada, CTMA and CMTDA.
